A Poem 09/14/08
RICK YRAMANTEGUI
Our Rick seems so young to most of us,
Its hard to figure why there's so much fuss,
Twenty years is not that long,
And now there's even some new song
To celebrate those years of ordination.
"Land of Goshen, such a big commotion.
But then, we must ask, what standard
Is the best?
Twenty years of sermons should bring
Recognition, if not rest.
And think of all those trustee meetings,
Not to mention ten thousand greetings.
"Hello, I am Rick Yramantegui, Pastor here.
What's your name and may I be of help or
Provide some cheer?"
Well, we know he's done just that and so very
Well,
We should congratulate him for being . . . well'
Just swell,
At preaching, teaching, composing, piano
Playing,
Visiting, helping, marrying, writing, praying
And accepting
Us just as we are, a strong, outspoken group
Of people
Who gather weekly beneath our little steeple.
So here's to you, our beloved Rick,
It took each of us at least a year to learn the
trick
Of saying, much less spelling "Yramantegui,"
So twenty years of dealing with the likes of
Us, we see,
Deserves a bit of recognition and a great
Big cheer,
And that is exactly why we are here!
